Michigan Taiwanese American Organization

We would like to invite young musicians to audition for the Eighth Annual Taiwanese Music Festival (TMF).  Eligible categories include piano solo, violin solo, piano/string ensemble, and string ensemble.

We are accepting applications for the first audition of the Seventh Annual Taiwanese Music Festival. The application deadline is March 30, 2010.  Attached is the application form with details on audition requirements. Listed below are important dates of this year’s Music Festival.

The First Audition:

• Time:        1-5pm, April 18, 2010 (Sunday).
• Location:  Greenhills School, 850 Greenhills Drive, Ann Arbor.
• Application deadline: March 30, 2010 (postmarked)

The Second Audition:

• Time:        1-4pm, September 25, 2010 (Saturday)
• Location:  Evola Music, 7170 Haggerty Road, Canton.

Honors Concert:

• Time:        7-9:30pm, October 16 (Saturday).  (Location to be determined)

As in previous festivals, students selected from the First Audition will be assigned music written by Taiwanese composers and invited back for the Second Audition in September.  Winners from the second audition will perform the same pieces at the Honors Concert.  Participants from last year appreciated these later dates of the Second Audition and Concert, which allowed more time after busy school and competition schedules in the spring, to learn music less familiar to most musicians.

With the unique musical and cultural experiences it provides, TMF has grown to be an annual event that many local young musicians, parents, and teachers look forward to.  Previous Festivals have attracted many young musicians from various cultural and ethnic backgrounds. We appreciate the enthusiastic participation of young musicians as well as the dedications and supports of teachers and parents in the last seven years, and look forward to another successful year.
